Engineering Manager – AI Product (Remote, EMEA)

About the role

Our client, a European technology company operating a cloud and infrastructure platform, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the AI product team. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on development of production‑grade AI systems, working remotely within European time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a small team of three engineers focused on AI platform and product development.
• Define and drive architectural direction for model serving, inference pipelines, retrieval, orchestration and evaluation.
• Contribute hands‑on code (≈50% of time) to design, implement and optimise core AI systems.
• Own end‑to‑end AI/ML platform responsibilities, including GPU capacity planning, model deployment, versioning, data pipelines and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Security and Backend teams to align priorities and ensure seamless integration.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and technical coaching.
• Promote engineering excellence, automation, and operational best practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or engineering‑management role.
• Proven track record building and operating AI/ML platforms or inference infrastructure in production.
• Strong background in distributed backend systems.
• Ability to make strategic decisions while remaining hands‑on.
