Project Associate – Climate Transparency Initiative

About the role

The Project Associate will support the UNDP‑GEF “Strengthening the National Framework for Climate Transparency in Armenia” project, contributing to the preparation and submission of Armenia’s First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) and the combined Fifth National Communication and Second Biennial Transparency Report (NC5/BTR2). The role focuses on enhancing climate‑change reporting, capacity building and gender‑responsive analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in compiling and updating the national greenhouse‑gas inventory.
• Support the assessment of progress towards Armenia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
• Gather and analyse data on vulnerability, adaptation and gender‑related climate impacts.
• Prepare sections of the BTR1 and NC5/BTR2 reports in line with UNFCCC and Paris Agreement requirements.
• Coordinate with national ministries, research institutions and UN agencies to ensure data quality and consistency.
• Contribute to capacity‑building workshops and training materials for stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental science, climate policy, international development or a related field.
• Experience with climate‑change reporting, UNFCCC processes or GHG inventory work.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with attention to gender and social dimensions.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team and communicate effectively with government and UN partners.
