Senior Data Engineer – ClickHouse Architect

About the role

Lineate is seeking a senior‑level Data Engineer with deep expertise in ClickHouse and AWS to design and operate high‑performance data infrastructure for large‑scale time‑series and real‑time workloads within a lakehouse environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise ClickHouse clusters for analytical and time‑series workloads.
• Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Amazon S3 as the source of truth.
• Optimise ClickHouse schemas, partitioning, materialised views, aggregations and query performance.
• Support real‑time and near‑real‑time query serving with high reliability.
• Integrate ClickHouse with Snowflake, Databricks and other ecosystem components.
• Manage ClickHouse infrastructure and BYOC deployments on AWS.
• Troubleshoot data ingestion, storage, scalability and performance issues.
• Own technical decisions and communicate trade‑offs to stakeholders.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Strong production‑level expertise with ClickHouse.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services, especially Amazon S3.
• Proven ability to work independently and take technical ownership.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• ClickHouse (data modelling, table engines, partitioning, materialised views, aggregations, query optimisation).
• AWS (Amazon S3, BYOC deployments).
• Lakehouse‑style architecture.
• Snowflake and/or Databricks integration.
• Large‑scale time‑series data handling.
• Real‑time or near‑real‑time analytics.
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
