Senior Data Engineer – ClickHouse & AWS

About the role

Lineate is seeking a senior data engineer with deep expertise in ClickHouse and AWS to design and optimise high‑performance data infrastructure for large‑scale time‑series and real‑time workloads. You will work within a lakehouse environment, using Amazon S3 as the source of truth, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust analytics solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise ClickHouse for analytical and time‑series workloads.
• Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Optimise ClickHouse schemas, partitioning, materialised views, aggregations and queries.
• Support real‑time and near‑real‑time query serving with high performance and reliability.
• Integrate ClickHouse with Snowflake, Databricks and other ecosystem components.
• Manage ClickHouse infrastructure and BYOC deployments on AWS.
• Troubleshoot data ingestion, storage, scalability and performance issues.
• Own technical decisions and communicate solutions and trade‑offs to stakeholders.

Required profile

• 6+ years of data engineering experience.
• Strong production‑level experience with ClickHouse.
• Deep knowledge of ClickHouse data modelling, table engines, partitioning, ordering, materialised views, aggregations and query optimisation.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, especially Amazon S3.
• Experience with lakehouse‑style architectures and large‑scale time‑series data.
• Proven performance‑tuning and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and take technical ownership.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
