Senior Database Administrator – ClickHouse

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure team. You’ll work on high‑impact projects in a fast‑growing fintech environment, collaborating with a world‑class remote engineering team spread across 20+ countries.

Key responsibilities

• Own reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters, both self‑hosted on Kubernetes and managed services.
• Design standard architecture and tooling to scale dozens of multi‑node clusters efficiently.
• Manage the full cluster lifecycle as code – provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations.
• Build monitoring and alerting to detect issues before users notice them.
• Maintain backups, disaster‑recovery procedures and conduct regular restore tests.
• Ensure clusters are secure by default and control costs through capacity planning.
• Serve as the go‑to expert for developers, DevOps, DBAs and leadership on schema design, data ingestion and query performance.
• Automate routine database requests and lead root‑cause analysis after production incidents.

Required profile

• Deep DBA‑level knowledge of ClickHouse in production, including storage, merges, replication and query behavior.
• Strong SQL skills, able to optimise complex analytical queries and review schema design.
• Experience designing architecture and automation for dozens of multi‑node clusters, preferably on Kubernetes.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes operators for databases (e.g., Altinity, official ClickHouse operator).
• Proven ability to perform version upgrades, backups, restores and zero‑downtime migrations.
• Solid troubleshooting across queries, schema, Kubernetes, Linux, storage and networking.
• Proactive database health monitoring using modern observability stacks.
• Practical database security implementation – encryption in‑transit and at rest, access control and secrets management.
