Senior Data Software Engineer – Databricks & dbt

About the role

EPAM is looking for a Senior Data Software Engineer to strengthen its Data & Analytics program. The role focuses on scaling the Databricks platform, migrating workloads from Teradata, and ensuring high data quality through robust governance and incident resolution. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere in Armenia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support for the Data & Analytics team, triaging and resolving stakeholder incidents.
• Diagnose and fix broken dbt models, including compilation errors, test failures, schema drift, and stale dependencies.
• Monitor, debug, and repair Databricks workflows, jobs, clusters, and scheduling issues.
• Investigate data‑quality problems and pipeline failures, identify root causes, and apply fixes.
• Maintain and improve dbt tests, documentation, and model configurations.
• Respond to ad‑hoc data‑fix requests, backfills, or re‑runs.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to enhance alerting, add tests, and refactor fragile models.
• Keep runbooks and support documentation up to date and escalate complex issues when needed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, debugging).
• Proven experience with Databricks notebooks, jobs, workflows, and clusters.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to read/modify transformation logic.
• Familiarity with Git‑based workflows, pull‑requests, and version control.
• Excellent troubleshooting mindset and ownership of issues through resolution.
• Good communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• English proficiency at B2+ level.
