Chief Accountant / Tax Advisor

About the role

South Gate is an international legal and financial advisory group with offices in the US, Luxembourg, Armenia, and Poland. The Yerevan office provides accounting, tax, and legal support for companies operating in Armenia. We are seeking a Chief Accountant who will own the accounting and tax function for our Armenian client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle accounting for the client portfolio (LLCs, CJSCs, branches, IT companies).
• Prepare, review, and submit all tax reporting via the SRC system, including profit tax, VAT, income tax, turnover tax, payroll and social payments.
• Oversee e‑invoicing, payroll, cash and bank operations.
• Prepare financial statements under IFRS and support audits.
• Advise clients on Armenian tax matters such as regime choice, IT incentives, dividends, withholding and DTT application.
• Represent clients before the SRC, handling inspections, inquiries and disputes.
• Manage and review the work of accountants on the team.
• Set up and maintain internal controls, deadlines and document flow.

Required profile

• 5+ years in accounting and tax in Armenia, with at least 2 years as a chief accountant or senior role.
• Deep knowledge of the Armenian Tax Code, IFRS, and labour legislation.
• Experience with SRC inspections and tax disputes.
• Strong skills in ArmSoft, HayHashvapah or 1C, plus Excel.
• Ministry of Finance accountant qualification; ACCA or DipIFR a plus.
• Fluent Armenian (native) and working level Russian and/or English.
• Experience serving multiple clients simultaneously, preferably from an audit or consulting background.
• Reliable, discreet, independent and loyal to the firm.
