Data Architect – AWS & SageMaker Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a senior Data Architect to join our team as a full‑time, long‑term resident consultant. The role is fully remote within Armenia and focuses on building a modern, cloud‑native data foundation on AWS, enabling self‑service analytics, and integrating AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and support Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio (SMUS), including data catalog, blueprints, and serverless compute.
• Design and maintain scalable data lake architectures on Amazon S3 using Parquet, Iceberg, and Delta formats, with proper cataloging, partitioning, and lifecycle policies.
• Build and optimise serverless data pipelines with AWS Glue and AWS Lambda, ensuring reliability through CloudWatch monitoring and job metrics.
• Integrate Amazon OpenSearch Service for search and analytics use cases.
• Support QuickSight / QuickSight Q deployment for dashboards and self‑service reporting.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to embed agentic AI services for intelligent data rendering and automated insights.
• Apply AWS Well‑Architected Framework principles for security, reliability, performance, and cost optimisation.
• Document architectures, configurations, and runbooks, and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or engineering, preferably on AWS.
• Proven expertise with Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio and serverless compute.
• Strong background in data lake design, governance, and self‑service analytics.
