Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers our analytics and machine‑learning initiatives. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable pipelines, modern storage solutions and robust data governance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for collection, processing, transformation and storage of large data volumes.
• Build, manage and optimise modern data storage solutions, including data lakes and data warehouses.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and implement data governance, security and compliance practices.
• Partner with data analysts and data scientists to optimise data architecture for reporting, analytics and machine‑learning workloads.
• Monitor pipelines and storage infrastructure, identify performance or reliability issues and implement solutions.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency and integrity through validation and control mechanisms.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support them as needed.
• Communicate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices in data engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
• Strong expertise in SQL, database design and data modelling.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java or Scala.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and best practices.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience working in Linux‑based environments and Bash scripting.
• Practical experience with cloud‑based data platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
