About the role
The Yerevan Municipality is seeking a Mid-Level Network Support Specialist to join its IT Department. You will provide assistance and guidance to system users, troubleshoot network issues, and help maintain a secure and reliable computer network.
Key responsibilities
- Build and configure LANs, install network software, firewalls and security settings for all endpoints.
- Set up desktop equipment, install operating systems and user software for new employees.
- Configure new user accounts, assign permissions, and apply security policies.
- Perform routine hardware and software maintenance on computers and networked devices.
- Manage and monitor Linux and Windows servers, administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
- Provide Linux desktop support both remotely and on‑site, including file sharing via Samba and NFS.
- Monitor systems with Zabbix and Windows Event Logs, and handle backups using rsync or Veeam.
- Create, manage and troubleshoot virtual machines using VMware vSphere/ESXi, VirtualBox or Hyper‑V.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience with networks, servers and related hardware.
- Strong problem‑solving, customer service and task‑prioritisation skills.
Required skills
- LAN design, firewalls, TCP/IP, VLANs, static routing, NAT, port forwarding.
- Windows 7/10/11, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
- Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), SSH, NGINX/Apache, Samba, NFS.
- Bash scripting, cron jobs, log analysis (journalctl, dmesg).
- VPN technologies: OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP/IPsec.
- Monitoring tools: Zabbix, Windows Event Logs.
- Backup tools: rsync, Veeam.
- Version control: Git.
- Network diagnostics: Nmap, traceroute, ping, netstat.
- Virtualisation: VMware vSphere/ESXi, VirtualBox, Microsoft Hyper‑V.
- Databases: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL.
