EU Legal Consultant – Tokenized Real Estate Verification Framework

About the role

Estate Index is seeking an EU Legal Consultant to design a comprehensive legal verification framework for the tokenized real estate market. The consultant will create a risk‑based algorithm that enables Estate Index to assess companies, SPVs, token issuers, and platforms operating across the European Union.

Key responsibilities

• Develop separate legal verification checklists for property owners, SPVs, token issuers, and trading platforms.
• Identify required documents, corporate records, licences, property records and public sources for review.
• Define criteria to verify legal existence, ownership structure, management, beneficial owners, regulatory status and sanctions exposure.
• Assess how ownership of underlying property is confirmed, including liens, encumbrances and other restrictions.
• Establish methods to verify the legal link between property, issuing entity or SPV, and the token.
• Define assessment of token‑attached rights such as ownership, revenue, voting, redemption and liquidation.
• Evaluate platform authorisations for issuing, distributing or facilitating token trading.
• Identify key legal and regulatory red‑flags and create clear verification statuses.
• Specify cases requiring additional advice from a country‑specific lawyer.
• Test the methodology on existing companies and tokenized properties listed on Estate Index.

Required profile

• Professional legal experience within the EU.
• Strong knowledge of financial services, securities, corporate, AML/KYB and real‑estate law.
• Understanding of asset tokenisation, real‑world assets (RWAs), blockchain‑based investment products and secondary trading.
• Familiarity with MiCA, the EU DLT Pilot Regime and the distinction between crypto‑assets, financial instruments and other token structures.
• Ability to conduct comparative legal research across EU jurisdictions.
• Capability to translate complex legal requirements into clear operational procedures.
