Junior National Forest Restoration Specialist

About the role
The Junior National Forest Restoration Specialist will support FAO's GCF‑funded project in Armenia by coordinating nursery activities and forest restoration sites, primarily in Sisian, Lori and Syunik regions. The role focuses on delivering hands‑on training to local forepersons and ensuring high seedling survival rates.
Key responsibilities
- Organise and deliver training‑of‑trainers sessions on planting techniques and silvicultural practices.
- Coordinate forepersons and field teams across selected restoration sites.
- Monitor nursery operations and planting activities to achieve target seedling survival.
- Support the upgrade and sustainable management of degraded coppice forests.
- Assist Hayantar SNCO staff in capacity‑building initiatives related to forest restoration.
Required profile
- Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Agriculture or a related field.
- Interest in forest restoration and rural green growth.
- Ability to work in field conditions and travel within Armenia.
- Good communication skills for training and coordination.
