Laboratory Supervisor

About the role

MSALABS, a global provider of geochemical laboratory services for exploration and mining, is looking for a Laboratory Supervisor based in Armenia. The supervisor oversees and leads laboratory operators, coordinates workflow, maintains laboratory equipment and enforces strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), so that laboratory activities comply with quality standards, safety regulations and operational efficiency goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and supervise laboratory operators, assign and monitor daily tasks and train staff on protocols, safety and equipment handling
• Ensure all activities follow SOPs, coordinate sample movement between departments and meet turnaround times
• Conduct field safety inspections, audits and risk assessments, and carry out routine equipment checks, calibration and verification
• Report unsafe conditions, deviations from procedures and nonconforming customer samples to the Laboratory Manager, and assist in HSE incident investigations
• Maintain equipment logs and records in line with ISO 17025 requirements, and contribute to HSEC activities
• Perform performance evaluations of laboratory operators and train staff in tasks they are competent to do

Required profile

• Technical diploma or higher in Chemistry or a scientific discipline; a degree in Chemistry, Geology or a related field is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a commercial laboratory
• Ability to work in a high-temperature lab environment, lift up to 20 kg and work on a shift-based schedule if required
• Strong leadership, organizational and teamwork skills, detail oriented and able to work under pressure

Required skills

• ISO 17025 systems awareness, internal auditing and method validation where applicable
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
