Principal Statistician – Ophthalmology (Remote, Europe)

About the role

Syneos Health is seeking a Principal Statistician with deep expertise in ophthalmology to join its Clinical Solutions team. This fully remote position supports European‑based projects and works across the entire drug development lifecycle, from protocol design to final clinical study report.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a statistical department resource and mentor junior biostatisticians.
• Design and deliver training sessions for new hires and existing staff.
• Lead and coordinate biostatistics activities on assigned projects, ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables.
• Provide independent review of work produced by other biostatisticians.
• Develop and oversee Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) and create mock‑up displays for tables, listings, and figures.
• Serve as Lead Biostatistician for protocol statistical aspects, randomization schedule generation, and input to the clinical study report.
• Create and review programming specifications for analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures.
• Review SAS/R annotated case report forms (CRFs), database designs, and related study documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in biostatistics within clinical research, preferably ophthalmology.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead biostatistics teams.
• Strong understanding of the full clinical trial lifecycle and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with sponsors and cross‑functional teams.
