Staff Engineer – Core Backend

About the role

Tabby is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical direction of its Core Backend services. You will work remotely with a world‑class engineering team spread across more than 20 countries, shaping shared services and tools used across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the roadmap for shared backend capabilities, including event‑driven communication, encryption, and data protection.
• Design and evolve internal tools such as Service Catalog, API Registry, SLO platform, and AI‑assisted development utilities.
• Identify cross‑team challenges and create reusable solutions to boost developer productivity, system reliability, and security.
• Lead complex initiatives from discovery through production validation, coordinating across multiple engineering teams.
• Collaborate with tool users to gather feedback, support integrations, and guide continuous improvement.
• Stay hands‑on with Go, ensuring performance, observability, and recovery mechanisms for critical services.
• Raise engineering standards through architecture reviews, clear technical decisions, mentoring, and comprehensive documentation.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Go and a track record of senior technical leadership.
• Deep knowledge of distributed, high‑load systems and cloud native technologies.
• Proven ability to own complex initiatives from design to production with lasting impact.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
