Head of Internal Audit – Build & Lead Risk‑Based Function

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Internal Audit to build and lead an independent, risk‑based audit function for the Universal Health Insurance Fund. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, you will provide independent assurance and strategic advice on governance, risk management and internal controls while establishing a modern, data‑driven audit capability aligned with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve an independent internal audit department.
• Report audit findings and recommendations directly to the Board of Trustees.
• Provide assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Develop data‑driven audit methodologies and align practices with global internal audit standards.
• Lead and mentor the audit team, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 8 + years of experience in internal or external audit, risk, controls, compliance or financial oversight.
• 3 – 5 + years of leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of internal audit standards, corporate governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Experience in regulated, public‑interest or complex organisations is highly valued.
• International professional qualification such as CIA, CRMA, CISA, ACCA, CPA, CFE or equivalent preferred.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
