Senior Statistical Programmer

About the role

Syneos Health's Clinical Solutions team is looking for a Senior Statistical Programmer. The role develops statistical programming code to generate summary tables, data listings, graphs and derived datasets according to the statistical analysis plan and programming specifications, and acts as the lead statistical programmer for the project.

Key responsibilities

• Develop custom SAS or other software code to generate summary tables, data listings, graphs and derived datasets as specified in the statistical analysis plan and programming specifications.
• Ensure outputs meet quality standards and project requirements, perform validation programming and resolve discrepancies with other programmers, biostatisticians and project team members.
• Keep the team informed of programming progress and issues, and follow applicable SOPs, WIs and regulatory guidelines such as ICH.
• Maintain organized, up-to-date project documentation, testing and quality control documents to ensure inspection readiness.
• Manage scheduling and time constraints across multiple projects, set goals based on management priorities and adapt to timeline changes.
• Develop specifications for datasets and outputs, anticipate programming issues and define variables so that peer review and sponsors accept the work with little rework.
• Act as lead statistical programmer: direct programming activities of other programmers, monitor deliverables and review documents such as the Statistical Analysis Plan, mock shells, programming specifications, annotated CRFs and SAS database design.
• Take part in sponsor meetings, kick-off meetings and bid defense meetings as statistical programming representative, and mentor programming personnel through training courses, materials and reviews.
• Contribute to internal meetings, follow action items and negotiate realistic time estimates with the team and statistical programming management.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in a scientific or statistical discipline; an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated programming experience is acceptable.
• Extensive programming experience in SAS or other required software, preferably in a clinical trial environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
