Staff Software Engineer – Ruby/Go

About the role

Workato is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of its core recipe runtime engine. You will work on high‑performance, highly‑available backend services that power real‑time data and workflow orchestration for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build distributed backend systems in Ruby and Go, focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience.
• Develop and maintain micro‑services and components that handle DSL processing, event pulling, webhook handling, and job execution.
• Integrate storage and messaging solutions such as Postgres, S3, Redis, Kafka, and ClickHouse.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor teammates, and provide technical leadership across the Engine team.
• Identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot production issues, and propose architectural improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience building complex backend applications in Ruby and/or Go.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, data durability, and security.
• Ability to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
