Engineering Team Lead – Email Security (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to run the remote squad that builds and operates our Imunify Email & Email Gateway product line. You will guide a senior team of 7‑8 engineers, own the delivery roadmap, and stay hands‑on with design reviews and production debugging.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the product backlog into a sequenced engineering plan with estimates, dependencies and a reliable release train.
• Run the team’s weekly cadence – planning, release readiness, status reporting with quantitative metrics.
• Own engineering quality gates for anti‑spam and outbound gateway models, ensuring measured catch‑rate and false‑positive thresholds and providing rollback paths.
• Keep technical debt visible, negotiate funding and integrate it into the roadmap.
• Report delivery status and risks to engineering leadership weekly, with clear owners and due dates.
• Define and maintain the architecture of the email stack together with the architecture group, reviewing designs and approving ADRs.
• Act as incident commander during production issues and lead post‑mortems.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading senior engineers in infrastructure, networking, security, messaging or anti‑abuse domains.
• Comfortable splitting time between leadership (≈60 %) and hands‑on engineering (≈40 %).
• Ability to quickly understand complex systems and form credible technical opinions across the entire stack.
• Strong communication skills for coaching, reporting and cross‑team collaboration.
