Occupational Health & Hygiene Specialist

About the role

The Occupational Health & Hygiene Specialist supports the Health & Safety Manager at Amulsar Gold Mine by delivering technical, monitoring and reporting services that protect employee health and ensure food‑safety, water quality and workplace hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate occupational health, hygiene‑monitoring and food‑safety assurance programmes.
• Maintain occupational health risk information and Similar Exposure Groups for risk‑based planning.
• Plan and conduct workplace inspections, monitoring, sampling and laboratory analysis.
• Assess health factors linked to dust, noise, vibration, chemicals, thermal stress, ventilation and ergonomics.
• Analyse monitoring results and recommend practical control improvements.
• Support implementation and verification of engineering, administrative, PPE and critical controls.
• Coordinate health surveillance with the Occupational Health Provider while preserving medical confidentiality.
• Inspect catering facilities, food handling, potable water, cleaning, sanitation and hygiene controls.
• Coordinate routine hygiene testing of food, water and food‑contact surfaces.
• Communicate findings, monitor corrective actions and maintain accurate records and reports.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or technical qualification in occupational hygiene, occupational health, health and safety or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in health and safety, occupational health, environmental health, laboratory services or a related technical area.
• Practical experience conducting inspections, assessments, monitoring or sampling.
• Ability to interpret results, identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Experience coordinating contractors, laboratories, medical providers or consultants (desirable).
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
