Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead regulatory legal matters for a fast‑growing international financial services group. The role is based in Armenia or Malaysia and includes relocation support. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide strategic legal guidance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel on financial services regulation and multi‑jurisdictional regulatory matters.
• Advise on licensing, regulatory approvals and horizon scanning for exchanges and brokerage activities.
• Interpret legislation and policy changes in emerging markets, applying retail client protection knowledge.
• Develop regulatory strategies that align business objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Advise on worldwide sanctions regimes, reporting and mitigation planning.
• Review, draft and negotiate contracts and agreements related to trading activities.
• Conduct commercial and regulatory research to support new product offerings.
• Develop company policies and provide legal risk guidance for commercial decisions.
• Escalate material regulatory matters to the General Counsel in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Strong regulatory counsel experience within regulated exchanges or brokerage firms.
• Cross‑jurisdictional exposure to regulatory legal analysis and legal project management.
• Expertise in securities and derivatives laws and financial services regulation.
• Understanding of licensing applications and regulatory change implementation across operations, systems and reporting.
• Commercial knowledge of key brokerage documentation such as terms and trading platform agreements.
• Pragmatic, business‑aligned approach to legal risk.
