Cook Assistant (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Cook Assistant supports the kitchen team in delivering high‑quality food service in a busy hotel environment. This part‑time position involves preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting the chef during peak periods.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate assistance needs to the chef during busy periods to ensure optimal service.
• Notify the manager if any product does not meet specifications.
• Check and verify correct temperatures of appliances and food items.
• Monitor food quantities prepared and portions served, ensuring proper portioning and garnish.
• Serve food in appropriate portions and receptacles.
• Set up, clean, and break down the workstation, including washing and disinfecting tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, storing, and washing/peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes and safety standards.
• Follow all company safety, security, and hygiene policies; report maintenance needs, accidents, or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards and use clear, professional language.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting objects up to 25 lb, and reaching overhead or below the knees.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• No prior related work experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.
