Middle Python Developer with SQL Skills

About the role

Betby, a fast-growing iGaming company with offices in Latvia, Malta, Spain, Greece and Montenegro, is looking for a Python developer to join its Backoffice Reports team. You will own the backend of analytics reports used daily by operations teams such as risk management, trading and account management. The stack is async Python on top of ClickHouse, with reports described as typed Pydantic models and Jinja-templated SQL, exposed via REST/GraphQL endpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reports: filters, grouping, sorting, pagination, totals, drill-down links, CSV exports and chart data
• Write and optimise analytical ClickHouse SQL, including aggregations over hundreds of millions of bets and period breakdowns
• Define reports as typed contracts (Pydantic models) in a shared reports library
• Work with the RPC layer between the backoffice API and the ClickHouse reporter service (RabbitMQ)
• Implement access control: scopes and roles, operator/brand data isolation and field visibility by user role
• Investigate slow reports using query plans, PREWHERE and pre-aggregation, and work with the analytics team on table design
• Test reports and SQL, take part in code reviews and help evolve the reports framework

Required profile

• 3+ years of commercial Python development
• Strong SQL, especially complex SELECTs with JOINs, subqueries, CTEs, GROUP BY and window functions
• Experience with a columnar/OLAP database (ClickHouse preferred; others a plus)
• Ability to turn a business metric into a correct query

Required skills

• Async Python (asyncio, Pydantic v2, type hints) and REST APIs in an async framework
• RabbitMQ and/or Kafka, Git, Docker, pytest
• Nice to have: ClickHouse internals, Jinja2, Pandas, MongoDB, GraphQL, Prometheus/Grafana/ELK, monorepo tools
