Senior AI-First Data Engineer

About the role

Smartcat is building an AI‑native platform that blends human expertise with digital teammates. As a Senior AI‑First Data Engineer you will shape the next‑generation data platform that powers decision‑making, automation, and AI agents across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a cloud‑native, streaming‑first data architecture that replaces legacy batch pipelines.
• Lead the migration of data workloads to real‑time, near‑real‑time processing frameworks.
• Improve reliability, observability, governance, and performance across the entire data stack.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and documentation for data development.
• Build data products and semantic layers that are consumable by AI agents, analytics tools, and business users.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior data engineering roles, preferably in cloud environments.
• Strong track record of delivering scalable, production‑grade data solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams including product, engineering, GTM, and AI specialists.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of streaming technologies and real‑time data processing.
• Familiarity with data governance, observability, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in building data pipelines, semantic layers, and metadata management.
