Senior Data Warehouse Engineer

About the role

The employer is looking for a Senior Data Warehouse Engineer to design, build and run its central data warehouse. The role covers turning business needs into data models, optimising ETL/ELT processes and keeping data quality and performance high.

Key responsibilities

• Design, enhance and operate the central data warehouse, translating business requirements into data models and DWH concepts
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes, including incremental loading
• Implement historization and change-tracking logic such as slowly changing dimensions
• Ensure data quality, consistency and correctness across the full data flow
• Build validation, control and reconciliation mechanisms
• Optimise query, load and data structure performance
• Document data models, load processes and architectural decisions

Required profile

• Solid experience building and operating data warehouse solutions
• Strong knowledge of information modelling and DWH architecture (Kimball, star and snowflake schemas)
• Experience with multi-layer ETL/ELT pipelines (staging, core, data marts)
• Practical experience with incremental loads, delta logic, historization and versioning
• Experience in query and data structure optimisation (indexes, partitioning)
• Understanding of data quality, validation and control mechanisms
• Basic knowledge of data security, data protection and handling of personal data
• Written and spoken English

Required skills

• T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server, especially for T-SQL-based DWH/ETL frameworks
• Git, PowerShell and/or Python for automation; C#, Power BI and SSRS are a plus
