Senior Software Engineer - Linux Kernel Driver Development

About the role

Grovf is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Linux kernel and device driver experience to help build next-generation networking devices for AI infrastructure. The work covers all stages of ASIC development, from micro-architecture through design and verification, in a collaborative environment with industry experts.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers for high-speed network devices.
• Implement and optimise data paths for low latency, high throughput and efficient CPU use.
• Integrate drivers with the Linux networking stack.
• Work with hardware, firmware and ASIC/FPGA teams on register interfaces, bringing up new silicon and debugging hardware/software issues.
• Debug complex kernel issues such as crashes, memory leaks, race conditions and performance bottlenecks.
• Write unit, integration and stress tests, supporting validation across kernel versions and distributions.
• Mentor junior engineers, review code and contribute to design documentation and technical roadmaps.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in Linux kernel or device driver development.
• Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals (Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN, QoS).
• Good understanding of high-performance, low-latency networking (kernel bypass, offloading, zero-copy).
• Solid understanding of PCIe, DMA, MSI-X interrupts, IOMMU and Linux kernel memory management.
• Experience with the Linux networking stack and NIC driver development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills across hardware, firmware and software teams.

Required skills

• C programming; scripting languages for tooling and testing are a plus.
• Git, including branching, rebasing, patch series preparation and merge resolution.
• Upstream Linux kernel contribution workflow and CI/CD practices; upstream contributions are highly desirable.
• Proficiency with kernel debugging tools.
