Mid+/Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js / NestJS)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join a cross‑functional team building consumer‑facing platforms and internal systems. The first major assignment will be the backend for a complex booking platform that aggregates inventory from many third‑party suppliers, requiring you to normalize fragmented APIs and enforce strict business rules.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using TypeScript and NestJS.
• Enforce industry best practices, SOLID principles, and internal coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high code quality.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, system design sessions, and technical planning.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, design, and product teams to define API contracts and deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Architect resilient integrations with third‑party APIs, handling REST, SOAP, asynchronous operations, and unreliable external states.
• Write and maintain automated tests to guarantee reliability, especially for financial transactions and data integrity.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimise services for speed and scalability under load.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience building production backend services.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Hands‑on experience with NestJS or a comparable opinionated DI‑based framework.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
