Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer – Low‑Code Apps

About the role

Workato is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to design and deliver high‑performance API interfaces and backend services that power its low‑code automation platform. You will work closely with UI, connectivity and DevOps teams to create elegant, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain complex Ruby on Rails applications.
• Build server‑side infrastructure supporting the Workato user interface.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define API contracts and integration patterns.
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code throughout the development lifecycle.
• Evaluate existing systems and propose architectural improvements.
• Research new technologies and present findings for review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience shipping and maintaining Rails applications.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby and deep understanding of object‑oriented design.
• Excellent debugging, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching layers such as Redis or Memcached.
• Contributions to open‑source projects are a plus.
