Commissioning Specialist II

About the role

We are seeking a Commissioning Specialist II to join HFA’s multidisciplinary engineering team. The role supports and leads commissioning activities for building systems, collaborating with the Commissioning Agent and project teams to verify performance and ensure designs meet intent.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Commissioning Agent and Discipline Lead in delivering commissioning for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and control systems.
• Lead functional performance testing, troubleshoot issues on‑site, and document results.
• Conduct meetings with clients and project teams to explain commissioning requirements and code compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, commissioning plans, and as‑built documentation.
• Apply knowledge of ASHRAE Standard 202, ASHRAE Guideline 0, and national energy codes to guide project delivery.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of ASHRAE commissioning standards and energy codes such as ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, and USGBC.
• Experience with complex mechanical, plumbing, and electrical/lighting systems, including VAV and VRF technologies.
• Ability to work independently, manage commissioning tasks, and resolve field challenges.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
