Machine Learning Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing AI

About the role

Join Align Technology's global Manufacturing Software Development team to research, develop, validate, and deploy machine learning solutions for complex medical device manufacturing and CAD/CAM applications. You will work at the intersection of computer vision, 3D geometry, multimodal AI, and advanced manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Research and apply state‑of‑the‑art ML techniques to improve manufacturing processes.
• Design, develop, and optimise deep‑learning models for 3D meshes, images, and tabular data.
• Develop multimodal AI solutions that combine multiple data sources.
• Validate models, analyse performance, investigate errors and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and product teams to integrate models into 3D CAD/CAM systems.
• Maintain robust ML development and experimentation workflows throughout the model lifecycle.

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science or related field.
• 4‑6 years of industry experience delivering ML solutions in commercial environments.
• Strong background in deep‑learning for computer vision or geometric processing.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills (English B2+).
