Senior Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Polixis delivers Swiss-quality, AI‑ready data for AML, sanctions, and UBO workflows. As a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) you will independently design, develop, and optimise high‑load backend systems, taking full ownership of the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct code reviews to maintain high code quality and share knowledge.
• Design, implement and maintain scalable, reliable micro‑service architectures.
• Optimise application performance for speed and scalability.
• Build enterprise‑grade systems using AI‑accelerated development workflows.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to ensure system stability.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers to integrate user‑facing elements with server‑side logic.
• Stay current with industry trends and mentor junior/mid‑level developers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of advanced Java backend development, preferably on high‑load systems.
• Proven experience setting up projects from scratch, including technology stack selection, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, observability, security and cloud integration.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and micro‑service architectures.
