Software Engineer (ATM)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and operate the middleware that connects Salmon’s ATM fleet to our backend systems. You will work on real‑time transaction processing, ensuring secure and reliable communication between ATM hardware and financial services as we scale from a pilot to thousands of machines across the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services for the ATM middleware platform.
• Implement ISO 8583 message flows for authorisation, reversals and reconciliation.
• Integrate with a Hardware Security Module for PIN translation, key management and cryptographic operations.
• Build and support integrations with card schemes, processing switches and core banking systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, infrastructure, security, compliance and vendor teams to keep the ATM stack running end‑to‑end.
• Monitor production, investigate incidents and resolve ATM transaction issues.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as a software/backend engineer, preferably in fintech, banking or payment processing.
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and API design.
• Experience with financial messaging protocols such as ISO 8583.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/EKS) and containerised deployments.
• Solid SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
• Fluent English (B2 or higher) with good written and verbal communication.
