Backend Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and backend infrastructure in a fast‑paced environment. The role combines strong engineering expertise with product‑oriented thinking and collaboration across data, product and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable data pipelines, models and backend data infrastructure.
• Implement transformation workflows using dbt on Snowflake and/or Databricks.
• Build and maintain workflow orchestration for reliable production‑grade data processes.
• Create internal data applications and tooling, for example with Streamlit.
• Partner with Data Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics and product teams, asking the right questions and shaping solutions.
• Leverage GenAI development tools (Cursor, Snowflake CoWork, Codex, Claude Code) to accelerate engineering work.
• Take ownership from design through deployment and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Backend Engineering or a related role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with dbt, SQL, data modeling and data pipelines.
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks and modern orchestration tools.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and a reliable professional work ethic.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment where requirements evolve quickly.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies and use GenAI tools daily.
