Bilingual Medical Coordinator & Front Desk Specialist (Armenian Speaking)

About the role

A medical practice serving general, family and internal medicine patients is looking for a fluent English-Armenian Medical Coordinator and Front Desk Specialist. You will act as the administrative backbone of the clinic, handling a high volume of patient calls (500-1,000 per week), verifying insurance, processing medication refills and managing prior authorizations while keeping schedules accurate in the EHR.

Key responsibilities

• Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls on a cloud phone system (Nextiva VOIP), answering questions, booking and confirming appointments and triaging urgent calls in English and Armenian.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, copays, deductibles and benefits before appointments, and initiate, submit and track prior authorizations for procedures, imaging and medications.
• Process prescription refill requests, verify prescription history in the EHR and route notes to providers.
• Manage provider schedules, optimize the appointment calendar and carry out daily patient outreach to reduce missed visits.
• Maintain patient charts, registration records and scheduling workflows in Athenahealth EHR (or similar).
• Use Microsoft Excel and Office tools to track daily tasks, referral logs and task lists.

Required profile

• Fluent spoken and written English and Armenian (strictly required).
• 1-2 years of experience in General, Family or Internal Medicine, preferably in a front desk, medical assistant or coordinator role; candidates with strong medical backgrounds in other specialties will also be considered.
• Proven experience with high call volumes, insurance verification, prior authorizations, prescription refills and patient scheduling.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with Athenahealth EHR and familiarity with Nextiva VOIP or similar cloud phone platforms.
